Classroom:Life Sciences Communications major with a 3.5 GPA in his major, expected to graduate in May 2007. Would like to work with children and expand and help to build community centers
Character:Made a pact with his older brother never drink, smoke or get a tattoo. Has said a number of times that one of his goals in life is to be able to build community centers in underprivileged neighborhoods, starting with his hometown of Joliet, Ill., because he started playing basketball at a neighborhood community center.
Community:Was Wisconsin’s representative at the NCAA Student-Athlete leadership conference in Orlando last spring, serves as the men’s basketball representative on the UW’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Participated as a “celebrity server” at a fund-raiser dinner for Family Support and Resource Center, which raises money for local children and families with disabilities, was featured speaker at University donor luncheon, has visited numerous elementary schools in the Madison and Lockport/Joliet areas and served as a mentor to kids at his local community center in the Lockport/Joliet area
Competition:Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year, on the preseason watch lists for both the Naismith and Wooden Awards, First-Team All-Big Ten selection in 2005-06
