Classroom:Hare has a 3.86 grade point average as an exercise science and health promotion major. He plans to attend medical school following his May 2008 graduation. He hopes to pursue a career in medicine, physical therapy or chiropractics. Hare was selected as a 2007 ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-American and was a member of the 2006 and 2007 CoSIDA Academic All-District teams. He is a three-time Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic (2005, 2006, 2007).
Character:Hare was voted as one of the team captains by teammates this season. Despite leading the team in scoring, he willingly came off bench in the final 10 games of the Bruins' 2006-07 NCAA tournament season. Along with his parents Lidelle and Jolene and siblings Jessica and Josh, his family runs a foster care center in their Cleveland, Tenn. home.
Community:Hare is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). He was part of two Belmont Athletics International Sport Mission Teams (Ukraine, 2005; Venezuela, 2006) and has spent time at a local youth community center, Y.E.S., in a program to develop youth physically, emotionally and spiritually. He participated in the men's basketball team annual "Adopt-a-Child" holiday toy drive. He volunteered at the Sevier Community Center and has volunteered to help freshmen and transfer students get settled in on "Move-In Day."
Competition:Hare is the two-time reigning Atlantic Sun Tournament MVP. He was a 2007-08 preseason first team All-Atlantic Sun selection after being named to the Atlantic Sun first team after his junior season and second team as a sophomore. He was the 2005 Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year. He is third in program history in scoring (NCAA era) with 1,275 points and is the leading returning scorer in the Atlantic Sun. He scored a career-high 32 points in Belmont's 2006 Atlantic Sun Championship game victory, which earned the team its first-ever berth into the NCAA Tournament. He was a member of the 2007 Saint Mary's (CA) All-Tournament Team. He has made a shot that either won the game or forced overtime in the final seconds of regulation 11 times in career. He is arguably the most decorated player in Belmont's NCAA era.
