Classroom:Daniels has enjoyed a solid career in the classroom at the University of Rhode Island. A business management major,he is pursuing his studies to help prepare himself for his postgraduate career. A smart and very personable young man, Daniels will also be working as a full-time intern in the URI sports communications office during the second semester. He would love to play professional basketball upon graduation, but is certainly using his time at URI to prepare himself for success off the court.
Character:Daniels is one of the true leaders, not only for the URI men's basketball team, but among his peers and fellow student-athletes. Each season, on the court, he has improved his stature on the team and in the conference. He has steadily improved, averaging just over 6.0 points as a freshman, to 11.4 as a sophomore, to 17.4 a season ago. Daniels' work ethic is an inspiration to the underclassmen and newcomers on the team. In addition to his work ethic, Daniels carries himself with the highest class and levels of sportsmanship. He has fouled out of only two games in his career and has never been whistled for a technical foul of any sort.
Competition:Daniels has developed and improved each and every season in a URI uniform. Last season, he earned his first-ever Atlantic 10 all-conference honor, being named to the league's first team. This season, he was a preseason all-conference first teamer. He ranked fifth in the A-10 in scoring last season, at 17.4 points a game, and was one of just two players nationally to average better than 17.0 points per game, shoot better than 49% from the floor, 40% from three-point range and 75% from the free throw line. He will be the "go-to" guy for the University of Rhode Island, which has been picked second in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
