Classroom:Sitton is majoring in elementary education. She has a 3.680 GPA and is on track to graduate in May 2008. She wants to pursue a master’s and doctorate in psychology to work with children, especially those who have emotional issues. She was on the dean’s list at Nevada both semesters last year (fall of 2006 and spring of 2007) and has been named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Team for three seasons.
Character:Sitton has been an active member of SACC (the Student Athlete Advisory Committee) at Nevada for four years (2004, 2005, 2005 and 2007.) She is also a member of the intervarsity club, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and Champions for Christ.
Community:Sitton has been an active member in the community and has participated in several community service events. She volunteered at the X-Treme Ability Challenge in 2004 and has participated in the Race for the Cure, a race to raise money for breast cancer research, for four years (2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007). She has participated in the Heart Walk (2005 and 2006) over the past two years and has volunteered at Women in Sports Day for three seasons (2004, 2005 and 2006). This season she has volunteered at Renown’s Senior Day (a local hospital) and at Peavine Elementary School's Chili Festival. She also spent time in October volunteering with the Head Start Program, reading to and helping kids with their school projects.
Competition:Sitton is one of Nevada’s three returning starters from last season-- a group that led the team to its most overall wins (17) since the 1999-2000 season. She also helped lead Nevada to its first major postseason appearance in 2007 as the Pack participated in the WNIT. She is also a four-year letterwinner at Nevada.
