Classroom:After graduating from San Jacinto Junior College, Kentrell Grandsberry enrolled at LSU. Gransberry transferred from LSU to South Florida after one semester in pursuit of more opportunities to display his talents on the court. Gransberry is currently studying Communications at South Florida and is expected to graduate in December.
Character:Adjusting to a different school as a mid-year transfer wasn't much of a task for Gransberry, which speaks a lot to his character. His is adored by his team so much that they voted him captain of this team.
Community:Gransberry is a volunteer for the USF Future Bulls Program which is a boy’s league for grades 4-8. The program addresses team play, the proper attitude on and off the court, academic responsibility, drug and gang-free lifestyle, and respect for parents and elders.
Competition:Gransberry, an All-BIG EAST second team pick last year, was one of 11 players named to the 2007-08 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. He was also one of 50 players named to the preseason candidates list for the John R. Wooden Award, perhaps the most coveted honor in college basketball. Gransberry concluded last year ranked third in the nation in rebounding (11.4 rpg.) and tops in the BIG EAST. He notched 12 double-doubles in just 23 games and averaged 15.6 points per game. The "gentle giant" had two monster games, a 20 point, 19 rebound game at St. John's and a mammoth 26 point, 23 rebound performance at DePaul the last game of the year. The 23 rebounds were tied for second-best in the nation in 2006-07 and was fourth-best in USF history. He was just the sixth player in school history to join the 20/20 club and ninth in BIG EAST play. Was averaging 16.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game through seven games.
